Required Reading: Awkward Beauty
Totokaelo owner Jill Wenger quoted in one of two recent major discussions about how fashion's perception of beauty is changing.
It's all relative. Keep that in mind before we go any further, but according to the New York Times and London's Guardian, awkward is in.
The former came out with a piece on September 4 that included a quote from Totokaelo owner Jill Wenger. The shop keeper is known not just for her gorgeous retail spot on Capitol Hill; shoppers around the world know her via the online version, on which she's always showcased her edits on offbeat beauties.
As the Seattle retailer told the NYT:
"When I’m looking for models, pretty isn’t on my list. I like something that’s off that kind of works in their favor."
The Guardian's piece is dated September 7 and proclaims, "gap teeth and kooky haircuts are all the rage."
