"The thing is, people really want to shop local and support small businesses, but often busy lives make it difficult to physically get out to these places," Clementine Shoes owner Linda Walsh shared with us recently. And it's unfortunately true. Walsh specifically cites a study done by the Seattle Good Business Network that discovered that 58 percent of Seattleites think it's important to shop local, but many residents find convience to be a barrier.
To help you shop in our area code while driving traffic to her boutique and sharing the wealth with small designers, Walsh recently revamped her website making it easier to shop online and went one better by adding a popup specifically for e-customers. The boutique will feature a rotating selection of independent designers sourced both locally and from some of Walsh's favorite national collections. Each designer will be highlighted for a month or two, and though it's geared towards online shopping, Clementine will also carry the collections in store.
The shoe shop first features Seattle designer Mia Fioravanti and her line of functional womenswear for fall. (We're swooning over this stretch cotton dress that's just asking for some chunky accessories.) Local designer and Independent Designer Runway Showcase contestant Paychi Guh will follow in a few months.
So give your lunch-break clicks and iPhone shopping sessions to the locals, especially to one that's making it so easy on you.
