New York based Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas just released a revamped professional collection of skin care products with a local launch at its Bellevue branch.
The brand's global chief creative officer Cornelia Zicu (worthy of an entire story to herself...the woman grew up in Romania, moved to the US from an Austrian refugee camp in the '90s, trained as an esthetician eventually launching a product line and opening one of New York's most exclusive spas, and most recently transferred to her role at Red Door) talked us through the new line below:
The professional collection is made up of 50 percent botanical ingredients and 50 percent biogenic ones. The difference? Botanicals are taken directly from nature, while biogenics are naturally derived but scientifically processed (think exfoliating lactic acid and wrinkle-reducing peptides).
For streamlined skin care, the 43 products are broken into three different categories: those with a white cap (dubbed the "grandma's kitchen" line by Zicu, who formulated the products with natural recipes learned from her Romanian grandmother), the science-heavy gold cap products, and those with a white cap aimed at targeting specific skin types. While each category differs in focus, the foundation of every product is to deliver the highest quality ingredients in the most effective way.
To nail down the best regime, treat yourself to Red Door signature facial where an esthetician will select the best combination of products for your skin type, or simply stop by the spa to pick and choose from the lineup. Each product is well-labeled so that finding the right product for your needs doesn't require several hours and a medical dictionary.
"We want to make it easy to bring the Red Door Spa experience home," Zicu told us. All that's left is to set up your massage room.
