SHOPTALK: What makes One Love different from other boutique wedding shows?
HARDING: One Love is a complimentary, high energy, informative, and well-rounded wedding show locally produced and presented by our very own LGBTQ and ally businesses. Our successful and award-winning vendors are eager to help all couples with professional, reliable services, and amazing products in more than 25 life categories.
Vendors at One Love have been fully vetted by our team and have a history of serving all couples. Attendees will find help with every aspect of creating a life together—from planning a wedding, to legal and financial support, real estate and mortgage, and much more. We create a stress-free, party atmosphere for those in the trenches of planning a wedding.
Did you do anything to reorganize or restructure One Love now that marriage equality is a fact of life? Will the show be different now that LGBT couples can legally wed?
We actually approached the show last fall as if the vote had already passed! Now that Washington State has affirmed marriage equality for all, we’re hoping this year’s showcase will be bigger and better. We’ve moved locations to accommodate more vendors and attendees, and have room to highlight new ideas and trends in fun and unique ways. We have a lot to celebrate, and we provide couples everything they need to know in one place.
Do you find that LGBT couples have different concerns and desires as they enter a life together? How are those addressed at One Love?
I don’t think LGBT couples necessarily have different concerns or desires, other than working with groups and vendors that respect and embrace them in their wedding journey. In regards to the actual planning of the wedding, every couple is unique, and each couple will have a personal and special vision of what they want their wedding to be. All couples want a day that is reflective of them, and One Love will continue to provide hand-selected vendors that represent various levels of creativity, approach, and price.
We take this process a step further by including what we are calling “life-merging” vendors in the show. We do have to acknowledge that because marriage equality is still not recognized federally, same-sex couples may still have some hurdles when merging their lives, so we want to bring them experienced professionals who are prepared to provide couples with the support they will need. We are proud to understand well the needs of the LGBT community and provide couples support and every opportunity to have the wedding of their dreams and a lifetime of happiness beyond!
