The Latest Styles and Stores

There's a new place to get smooth in town; the Wax Bar is opening its third location in Laurelhurst on January 8. With existing locations in Ballard and West Seattle, the Wax Bar offers customized waxing and facial services.

Owner Karen Jahn has been a practicing esthetician for over fifteen years. Before opening the spa, Jahn worked and taught waxing and skin care at Ballard's Habitude. The Wax Bar was born from a desire to offer the whole package: high-quality waxing services alongside premium skin treatments.

We tested out the salon's signature 50-minute facial and were impressed with the level of detail and customization. Our esthetician used a cocktail of products from Dermalogica, Somme Institute, and Jan Marini that left our skin soft and glowing.

The skincare lounge is the only spa in Washington with a liquor license, so guests can enjoy a brew before any service. But be careful, alcohol dehydrates the skin and drinking before a wax can cause increased sensitivity and redness—it's better to stick to water.

Stop by any of the three Wax Bars to get buffed out and silky smooth. Each salon offers happy hour specials from 1 to 3 on weekdays. Call for daily offerings.
