Rock legend, poet, and all-around wit Patti Smith is on the move. Following the release of her new studio album, Banga, in June, Smith has been busy touring the East Coast with Neil Young and Crazy Horse and scheduling benefit concerts in Japan for victims of the 2011 tsunami. But next month, she returns to Seattle to play one of her more intimate concerts here in years—a session at the Neptune Theatre on February 27. Tickets are already on sale, but won't be for long. Her Seattle fans likely haven't forgotten that 2010 talk at Benaroya Hall and the impromptu a cappella singalong to "Because the Night."
Also coming to the Neptune: Comedian Marc Maron presents "Out of the Garage" on March 1; tickets go on sale January 4 at 10am at stgpresents.org. Maron's brief stand-up tour is, quite literally, a break from podcasting WTF with Marc Maron out of his garage in Los Angeles; it's only a 10-date tour with nights in Vancouver, Portland, and Seattle. He seems to feel at home in our dark, neurotic corner of the world. Yay!
