As we recently pointed out, perhaps the biggest trend in Seattle style is collaboration: stores, designers, event spaces, restaurants, and on and on all coming together in supportive, community-benefiting partnerships.

So clothing designer Amy Tipton was particularly on-trend when she opened up her Belltown boutique Sassafras in late December. The shop carries the work of over 25 Northwest designers from Bellingham to Portland, including handmade women's clothing, artisan jewelry and accessories, and even cozy items for your four-legged friends.

Tipton's own work makes it into the mix in the form of layerable dresses and separates in ombres and bright spring patterns.

Sassafras also offers on-site alterations and the boutique's basement houses as a multi-station shared workspace. Designers can rent desks by the hour or month, with discounted rates for students. Currently setting up a downstairs studio: wedding dress designer Kimmi McCormick and her line of upcycled gowns.

Stop by to see what else (and who else) is in store and get a taste of Seattle's collaborative spirit for yourself. Unlike maybe jeggings or hair feathers, this is a trend you're unlikely to regret.
