The Food Court to End All Food Courts
Slide Show: Inside Seattle Center Armory
Have a look around the epically revamped culinary destination.
Perhaps one of the more exciting stories we’ve tracked is the epic overhaul of the Armory at Seattle Center. What once was a humdrum food court is now a bona fide culinary destination.
In February Josh Henderson, he of the Skillet empire, became one of the first tenants to hop aboard the Graham Baba-helmed project —a renovation dovetailing with the 50th anniversary of the Seattle’s World Fair. Some say it was Henderson’s involvement that really set the wheels in motion, and whether or not that’s the case, March and April brought news aplenty of other big names planning Armory offshoots of their own.
Many of those spots have since opened, and today, July 11, it’s Henderson’s turn. Skillet Counter is officially doing business as of 8am (yep, there’s breakfast—even a breakfast burrito). More eateries are still to come, but for the most part the Armory has finally taken shape. See for yourself in the slideshow.
