Isn't It Weird That
Some weird things we noticed about the coup and the mayor's race.
1. Isn't it weird that ... neither Sen. Brian Hatfield (D-19, Raymond) nor Sen. Steve Hobbs (D-44, Lake Stevens), two conservative Democrats who crititized their Roadkill Caucus colleagues during the (now) precursor GOP senate coup last March, have spoken up to criticize the latest coup.
After the budget coup last session, which was aided (like yesterday's) by Roadkill Democrats Sens. Tim Sheldon (D-35, Potlatch) and Rodney Tom (D-48, Bellevue), Hatfield said the defectors "took a good thing in Roadkill and blew it apart" while Hobbs called the March coup "the antithesis of transparency, respect and fairness."
Sen. Brian Hatfield
This time? Eerie silence.
2. Isn't it weird that ... unknown mayoral candidate Charlie Staadecker has $36,000 cash on hand—$3,000 more than incumbent Mayor Mike McGinn, who has just $33,000 cash on hand.
3. Isn't it weird that ... US Rep. Jay Inlsee maxed out to Sen. Rodney Tom (D-48, Bellevue) in 2010. Little did Inslee know he be helping elect someone—a Democrat— to the state senate that would undermine Inslee's own Democratic agenda.
Washington State Democratic Party Chair has already groused about the money the party itself has given electing Tom.
