Bar and Restaurant Owners Stand Behind R74
The marriage equality campaign gets a boost from the food community.
While plenty of industry folk are taking to Twitter to tout the cause, a handful of them joined the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce in taking out (and paying for) a full-page ad in The Seattle Times. That roster includes Linda Derschang, Molly Moon Neitzel, Jody Hall of Cupcake Royale, Joe Fugere of Tutta Bella, and Wild Ginger's Ricky Yoder.
But when it comes to shows of support Essex, the offshoot of Delancey and steward of impressive homemade concoctions, really stands out. Every Wednesday until the election, the cocktail bar is donating all of its food sales—as in, 100 percent—to Washington United For Marriage.
If you know of other establishments doing something similar, drop a note in the comments.
