Bethany Jean Clement laments the coming close of Pettirosso, but the good news is that the people behind Bang Bang Cafe hope to assume and expand the space and keep the Pettirosso spirit alive.
The city approved the demolition of 1650 E Olive Way to make way for a six-story, mixed-use building. That means B&O Espresso will shutter. The cafe, which opened in 1976, saw business decline over recent years as the development loomed. Owner Majed Lukatah says current plans are to "take it easy."
Also from Eater: Uptown Espresso is closing its 7th and Virginia location, also due to increased rent. Today is the final day for business.
After a minor kitchen fire, Gainsbourg is closed temporarily. Owner J. J. Wandler told Phinneywood on Monday he hopes to be back in business within 10 days.

Chris Werner reported the Einstein Bros Bagels chain is coming to Seattle. The first Seattle store for the rolls-with-a-hole will open January 17 at 2201 Westlake Ave. Franchise and development VP Mike Ellis expects more expansion to follow.
