One of the many rewards of having a job that allows me to regularly attend the ballet is the ability to recognize various dancers in the way that some guys can go to a baseball game and know their favorite players from aisles away.
I can always spot Louise Nadeau. She’s of the PNB principals who causes whomever I bring with me on opening night to turn and ask her name. “Oh, that’s Louise,” has become a common phrase in my vocabulary.
She’s just announced that she’ll be retiring at the end of this season. You still have time to witness her particular grace. She dances the lead in the Emeralds section of Jewels on January 29 and 31 and also on February 5. And PNB’s hosting Season Encore Performance: A Celebration of Louise Nadeau, which will feature her in Swan Lake (pictured), on June 7. Catch her while you can.
